Strawberry Jam – Come Jam with Me



Strawberries are one of the true delights of summer.  On Father’s Day my mom and dad brought me a big basket of strawberries that they bought at a U-pick farm in Wisconsin.  We dehydrated the berries in our Excalibur dehydrator and have been enjoying them all week.  Now we are going to make jam with the berries.  I’ve never made jam before but here is the easy recipe that is modified from the Food Network that I am going to use.  I’ll report in how it goes.

Strawberry Jam
Makes 2 cups

6 cups fresh strawberries, halved
1 cup granulated sugar
Juice of 1/2 lemon

Combine ingredients in a non-reactive pot and toss well. Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce to a simmer and cook until thickened (about 30 minutes). Cool to room temperature. Transfer to resealable containers and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
