I rarely write product reviews anymore. But every once in a while, I stumble upon a product that makes gluten free life much better. I want to preface this review by saying that I cook ALOT at my house. We try not to eat too many processed foods. However, I miss frozen dinners.
By not eating processed foods, I basically took away the ability to purchase a pre-made meal, store it in the freezer and pop it in the microwave or toaster oven for a quick fix for lunch or dinner. That being said, I still make extras and freeze them and we reheat them. But it isn’t the same as buying convenience at the store. I just stumbled upon a solution to my dilemma.
The other day I was in Whole Foods Market and the man stocking the freezer section pointed out a new gluten free frozen product line. He said that he had tried a few of the items and he really liked them. I explained that I don’t usually buy frozen meals and he encouraged me to try them and bring them back if I didn’t approve.
I left with three Evol Bowls. They are eco-friendly frozen meals – from the ingredients to the packaging. And they taste great!
So far I have tried the Teriyaki Chicken, Bean and Cheese Enchilada, and the Fire Grilled Steak Bowls. There is also a Chicken Enchilada Bowl.
The Fire Grilled Steak Bowl is my favorite. It tastes just like an entree I make at home. The Bean and Cheese Enchilada was good but I didn’t think it was quite as tasty as the Fire Grilled Steak. And the Teriyaki Chicken looked as though I would need to add more teriyaki sauce, but it was perfect just the way they made it.
There is a great story behind the company too!
If these bowls are carried in your stores, check them out for those days or nights when you don’t feel like cooking – but you want something that is healthy and won’t destroy the environment.

Just wondering what the labels say as far as “natural flavors” we don’t consume products with them. Also what about dairy?
Thanks for any answers.
Peace & Raw GF Health,
Elizabeth
None of the labels state “natural flavors”. The only bowl that does not contain dairy is the teriyaki one. The other three contain dairy. It’s a bummer for the dairy free folks! But the teriyaki bowl was very good.
I signed up for your RSS blog feed, but it is going to my work email rather than my personal email which I do not want. Please change it to the email address in this message.
Thank you.
I have to say I was excited to try this. It sounded good and said it was new and improved. I can’t imagine what it taste liked before it was improved. I must say I did not enjoy my bean & cheese enchilada. It was bland and for the money certainly not worth it. Amy’s product was so much better, a lot more favorable. Unfortunately I bought 2 of them, so I will have to suffer through another on of these:(
I love Evol Bowls! Costco recently started carrying them, the Fire Grilled Steak with Guacamole ones. Delicious!
They’re the best frozen meals I have ever had. They taste homemade.
