Genetic Testing and Celiac Disease

I just read a wonderful article in the New York Times by Dr. Sheila Crowe, a professor in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology in the department of medicine at the University of Virginia.  I was intrigued when the article started out by asking the question of do the Irish have a higher percentage of celiac disease than other populations.

My husband is Irish and therefore my kids are Irish too.  Whenever I go to celiac events I seem to notice a higher percentage of Irish folks and Jews than others in the room.  Now, I live in Chicago, and there seem to be a higher percentage of Irish folks and Jews everywhere.  But I have always been curious about the actual statistics.  I also was intrigued about the many answers Dr. Crowe gave regarding testing for celiac disease and gluten intolerance.
