My husband and I are Jewish, and my son's GI specialist said that Celiac disease was not as common among Ashkenazi Jews (versus Colitus and other GU related diseases). He did say that it was more common among those of Irish decent.

We also live in Chicago, and there are very few Jewish people in our community that have Celiacs. I'm curious why you think there's a higher percentage among Jews since so far this has not been out experience (but then again, we are new to this stuff!)
